Global warming, biodiversity loss and pandemic disease have become critical issues and without a conscious shift towards more sustainable lifestyles, this concerning trend is set to continue.
Monkey Wrench aims to give fresh perspectives on wellbeing, culture and lifestyle underpinned by three core values - think, feel and act. The name Monkey Wrench was inspired by The Monkey Wrench Gang, a novel by Edward Abbey about 4 misfit’s outrage at environmental damage in the American Midwest and their subsequent ecotage.
Founder Alexandra Jellicoe has carried out research for the United Nations and worked with various aid agencies preventing the spread of infectious disease and mitigating the effects of climate change on vulnerable populations. She has lived and worked with remote indigenous tribes and small island developing states - communities whose homes have been lost or are currently under considerable threat. She started Monkey Wrench to create a broad and inclusive conversation about public, environmental and planetary health.
Alex is currently writing a book about the interdependence of human, animal and environmental health.
